In Tushemisht, Pogradec, by the shores of Lake Ohrid, efforts are in full swing to clear the lake shoreline of debris following the removal of old bridges and surrounding walls, which had long marred the area’s aesthetics.
Pogradec Municipality has been actively updating social media channels with progress on the ongoing cleanup, geared towards ensuring a seamless tourist season. Anticipation is high for a surge in visitor numbers compared to last year.
In tandem with the cleanup, the municipality has inaugurated a new road, in collaboration with local residents, to improve access for both tourists and locals to the lake.
Tushemisht, a picturesque village just 5 km from Pogradec, offers breathtaking vistas year-round.
Recent investments in road infrastructure, funded by the Albanian government and the World Bank under the “Regional Connectivity Roads” initiative, have significantly eased travel for residents and tourists alike. Further projects, including the Tushemisht Promenade, Drilon Park enhancements, and improved road access to the Tushemisht border point, seek to enrich tourism offerings and highlight the natural splendor of the region.
