During 23-29 September in Tirana will be held an important cultural event for the community of cinematographers, the 21st edition of the Tirana International Film Festival.
From this film festival, one of the longest running in the country, films are also selected which qualify to compete in the Oscar® and European Film Awards. The best short film will be eligible for the Oscars® 2024 as well as the European Film Awards 2023. Student films officially selected at TIFF are eligible to compete for the Student Academy® Awards (SAA). Since 2013, TIFF is also part of the 110 most important festivals in the world, which are followed with special attention online, but also physically by the HFPA – Hollywood Foreign Press Associations.
In this year’s edition, 192 films have been selected, of which 158 short films and 34 feature films and 10 screenplays. But the initial flows were many times larger. The organizers have made these selections among 3500 applications from 112 countries of the world.
All the selected films are national premierès, but there are also many world, international, European and regional premierès.
